To strengthen her leadership capabilities and meet SSSC registration requirements, Fiona embarked on her<em> Children and Young People SCQF 9 <\/em>with RT Resources under the Modern Apprenticeship scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, she not only feels more assured in her practice and decision\u2011making but has become an advocate for the programme, supporting colleagues who are now following in her footsteps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Background<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fiona has dedicated over 14 years to childcare and residential support, progressing from Residential Support Worker to Senior, and now to Deputy Manager. Her role involves:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supporting young people and staff<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leading and managing home operations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conducting care plans, risk assessments, supervisions, probation reviews, and PDRs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing payroll and petty cash<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working alongside the Registered Manager to ensure high\u2011quality residential care<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite her strong background, stepping into leadership brought new pressures and the need for enhanced confidence in decision\u2011making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Challenge<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Transitioning into a senior leadership role meant greater responsibility\u2014and with it came natural self\u2011doubt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI felt that I wasn\u2019t as confident as I could be in my role and in my decision making.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Although her manager reassured her that her performance was strong, Fiona recognised the need to build her personal confidence to excel fully in her position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why She Chose RT Resources<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fiona needed to complete her SCQF 9 &nbsp;for SSSC requirements, and her employer of Fiona\u2019s experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cMy assessor was supportive and made herself available at times which suited me and my workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>To accommodate Fiona\u2019s busy residential environment, her assessor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adapted observation schedules to suit shift patterns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responded quickly to emails and support requests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offered alternative evidence\u2011submission methods, including recordings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provided constructive, helpful feedback with clear expectations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This flexibility ensured assessments didn\u2019t disrupt staff or young people, allowing Fiona to remain mindful of their wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Results<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The impact of the MA was immediate and significant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Increased Confidence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI feel more confident in my role and in my decision making.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Fiona also received extremely positive verification feedback from the SQA, further boosting her self-belief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Greater Reflective Practice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She now feels more capable of analysing her responses and approaches in real\u2011world situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSince completing the MA I feel that I am able to better reflect on my practice and my approaches.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Positive Change Recognised by Her Manager<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her manager has noticed clear growth in her confidence and willingness to try new things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Enhanced Time Management and Prioritisation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fiona now approaches daily responsibilities with more structure and clarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The MA has shaped Fiona into a more decisive, reflective leader\u2014qualities she now uses to mentor the next generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI am currently supporting our Senior Residential Support Worker who has just started\u2026 We also have another two staff members starting their SCQF 7 CYP &nbsp;with RT Resources.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Her strong recommendation highlights the consistent support
