About Lindsay<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lindsay Hay works as a Support Practitioner<\/strong> with Turning Point Scotland<\/strong>, providing 24\u2011hour support<\/strong> to an individual with complex medical needs and learning disabilities. With three years of experience<\/strong> in her role, Lindsay is dedicated to delivering high\u2011quality, person\u2011centred care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Challenge<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When Lindsay joined her team, she was the only member who hadn\u2019t yet completed a Modern Apprenticeship. Although this didn\u2019t affect her ability to carry out her role, she noticed the difference and wanted to match the qualifications of her colleagues. Completing the MA offered her the chance to build confidence and strengthen her professional knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Lindsay Chose the MA<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For Lindsay, starting the Modern Apprenticeship was an important step\u2014it was a requirement for her role, and she wanted to continue developing her abilities. TPS enrolled her in the appropriate qualification, and she hoped the course would give her greater confidence<\/strong>, more structured understanding, and an opportunity to deepen her experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting Started<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Returning to formal learning after many years was initially \u201cquite daunting,\u201d especially as Lindsay hadn\u2019t studied since secondary school. However, she quickly felt supported. Her assessor, was always available to answer questions and provide reassurance throughout the learning journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cMy assessor was always on hand if I had any questions. Julie was very supportive.\u201d<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Experience<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With consistent support, Lindsay progressed steadily through the course. She found the assessment process and her conversations with her assessor particularly valuable. Working at her own pace helped her grow more confident and recognise the strengths she already brought to her role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Results and Improvements<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Completing the MA made a significant difference to Lindsay\u2019s sense of confidence and professional understanding. She now feels much more assured in her own abilities and has a deeper knowledge of the laws, regulations, and protocols<\/strong> that underpin social care practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cI am a lot more confident and don\u2019t second\u2011guess myself. I understand a lot of the laws surrounding social care.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Although her day\u2011to\u2011day responsibilities haven\u2019t changed, Lindsay now approaches her work with greater clarity and assurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lindsay feels more comfortable, knowledgeable, and confident in her professional role. She also strongly recommends the MA to others working in similar settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cYes, I would recommend it. It gives you more confidence in your role. You learn a lot about laws, protocols, and why they are in place.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
