CSCS Card Update (Glass Industry Occupations)
GQA have announced that from the beginning of June, the Q-card will change to more closely resemble a CSCS card, with industry encouraged to accept all CSCS-logoed cards at site gates provided they are valid and in-date.

The CSCS logo and card design is a trusted hallmark for industry, ensuring individuals have the appropriate training and qualifications for the role they do on site.
Sites are also advised that GQA Q-cards with both designs will be in circulation for several years until the older cards are renewed. Whether they show the previous or updated design, all should be accepted as usual, provided they are confirmed as valid and in-date by CSCS Smart Check.
All cards, including the GQA Q-card, carrying the CSCS logo meet the standards set out in the Construction Leadership Council recommendations, which also support the use of CSCS Smart Check when verifying individuals’ training and qualification records.
Since September 2017 GQA Qualifications has been an issuer of CSCS cards for those achieving a GQA Construction related qualification, including, but not limited to occupations such as Labourers, Bricklayers, Steel Fixers and Site Supervisors. Additionally, GQA is the only organisation issuing cards for the Glass and Glazing industries, and as RT Resources are the only Glass & Glazing Centre in Scotland, we have been applying for CSCS Cards on your behalf.
In order to apply for a CSCS Card (Glass Industry) the candidate must have passed a relevant Health & Safety Test within the passed 2 years, and have completed, or embarked on a relevant qualification within the sector. If you have completed your Glass Qualification with us you will be eligible for a Full CSCS Card which will last for 5 years, and if you have recently embarked on a qualification, you will be eligible for a Temporary or Trainee card, lasting 2 years.
GQA have now produced an online application process for the renewal of CSCS Cards.
You can access the service here You will require to upload proof of a pass in either the CITB OR GQA Health & Safety test, achieved in the last 2 years, and two forms of identification, one which must be photographic, the other confirming your address.
You can complete a Health & Safety Test at any CITB centre, or alternatively a member of our team can meet with you to complete it, and this must be paid in advance. We can also still apply for CSCS Cards on your behalf, however this will now also incur an administration fee.
