Learning at Work – The Process

Learning at Work – The Process

Learning and development in the workplace is our business and we could go on and on about the benefits of vocational and professional development qualifications gained while at work.

Not only will you save time, as your qualification will take place while you work, you will also underpin your knowledge based on real life work experience, as opposed to learning at college or university.  This means a more robust learning journey, helping you move forward in your career with both qualifications and experience.

We assess hundreds of employees every year and support them to achieve their goals.  So, how does the process work?

After an initial enquiry, we will discuss your goals, as well as the job role you are currently in.  Its important that the qualification you undertake meets with your current responsibilities to ensure that you can meet the evidence requirements of the units.

Once we are able to identify the correct qualification, we will explain the assessment process and timescales.  If you are happy with the process, we can then discuss costs and funding.

Many of our qualifications are funded by SDS under the Modern Apprenticeship scheme, however the funding available depends on qualification sector, your age and if you have undertaken any qualifications on the MA scheme previously.  If you do not qualify for this funding we have other options available, such as SAAS and monthly instalment plans should you wish to pay for the qualification by yourself.

When your funding is in place, you will meet your Assessor, who will induct you on to the qualification and explain how they will support and assess you over the course of your learning journey.

Our vocational qualifications usually take between 6 and 12 months to complete, and our professional development qualifications can take anything from 6 weeks to 6 months, depending on the time you have available.

It’s important to remember that all are qualifications have SCQF Levels.  Once you have completed a qualification at a certain level you are then able to use this not only to move forward in your career, but move to the next level of learning, whether that be in work or at college or university,  when you are ready.

Once you have completed all the evidence required for the units and your assessor and our verifier is happy, you will be resulted and certificated.

Read about our candidate Lori Burns, currently working as a Registered Manager at Imagine Care. We have worked with Lori while she achieved her SCQF 7 & 9, and now she is working towards her Leadership and Management (Health & Social Care) Qualification. She is a prime example of this.
