Centre Awarded “High Confidence” from SQA
Every year our quality of delivery is ensured by a team of External Verifiers from our awarding bodies; SQA and GQA. The External Verifiers examine our policies and procedures, our candidate induction procedure, assessment planning, and the quality of our assessment decisions and delivery of the qualifications. They also speak with our current candidates to confirm the standards of delivery and discuss the relationship the candidate has with their assessor.
Our first qualification to be verified this year was Business Administration, and we were delighted with the feedback the EV gave.
Within her report she commented:
The Centre have a strong Team delivering the Business & Administration qualification. All are experienced, and competence was reflected via CV’s and Qualifications viewed. Through regular meetings the centre checks that assessment practice and materials are up to date, and are appropriate to support the delivery of the award.
Ongoing contact with Assessors was evident throughout the Candidate journey and learners are well supported. Candidates are met on a regular basis (this was Candidate led – depending on individualneeds, commitments etc) both in the workplace, or virtually via digital platforms.
The Candidate I interviewed was very complimentary of Assessor contact / support and acknowledged response times were always very quick if they had any questions or queries.
Detailed planning and feedback sets Candidates up for success and provided a clear route map through units. Plans and supporting email communications were exceptionally supportive, and learner specific.
In addition, progress is reviewed monthly and discussion / support recorded as part of the Candidate Initial Assessment Plan. Ongoing individual planning helps set Candidates up for success, prompting for evidence covering both performance and knowledge.
The Centre have well established practices and procedures, despite this, they continue to show an openness to change and continuous improvement in their delivery and planning for these qualifications.
I discussed the outcomes of my report showing an overall rating of ‘High Confidence’.
