Supporting Careers working with Children & Young People

Imagine Care offers residential care for children and young people aged from 6 years.

Our team is experienced in supporting complex needs, including issues of trauma, abuse and neglect.

Lori Burns has been working with Assessors at RT Resources for over 5 years and is a prime example of how the MA scheme can help foster skills to enhance your career.

Lori has worked in Health & Social Care for 15 years, and has worked with us to gain the Health & Social Care Children & Young People SCQF 7 (L3). More recently the SCQF 9 (L4) and is currently working on attaining the Leadership and Management SCQF 10 qualification.

Lori explained that it is a requirement of SSSC that all registered managers have completed these qualifications within 3 years of registration.  Lori told RT Resources that she found balancing work, family and time to work on the SVQ one of the most challenging parts of completing the qualification.

“Because I work shifts I was able to devote more time to working on the qualification which helped.  I have also completed some work towards a Social Work degree with the Open University and much of the knowledge required crossed over.  My assessor was fantastic, an absolute Godsend! She was very approachable, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble to her.

I now feel that I have the embedded knowledge to lead the team by example, underpinned by strengthened knowledge of legislation at management level relating to the service and the team.”

Aileen Kelly, Head of Operations at Imagine Care said,

“Lori has shown her commitment to achieving her SVQ Level 9, by dedicating her time to complete this in a very quick timeframe. Lori was supported by RT Resources and specifically Joanne who was an excellent support for Lori.

Having completed this award has given Lori valuable knowledge and skills in leading her team. Lori has shown excellent leadership skills, communicating with professionals and working collaboratively with external agencies and resources to meet the outcomes for Children and Young People.

Lori has recently been promoted to Registered Manager at Hamlet Farm. The staff team at Imagine Care respect and appreciate the guidance, advice and support she offers.”
